Friends of Huggins Hosts Spring Fund Raiser

Submitted by Becky Daves

Friends of Huggins (Huggins Elementary PTO) held their annual spring fundraiser, Saturday, April 25th.  This year’s theme was Dazzle ‘n Dice held at the Irene Stern Community Center.

The highlight of every spring fundraiser is the dessert, silent and live auctions.  Teachers donate home baked goods for the dessert auction and businesses, organizations and families donate items for both the silent and live actions including gift certificates, trips, autographed sports memorabilia, and even orthodontics!   But the big ticket items are the class projects.

This years’ class projects were:

  • The fifth grade donated a wooden ice chest with each students name carved into the lid
  • The fourth grade decorated the cushion of an entry way bench;
  • The third grade’s project was a photograph fleece blanket featuring each class on playground equipment
  • The second grade made bird houses depicting buildings around Fulshear; first grade built an old fashioned see-saw
  • Kindergarten made a quilt with hand print panels.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit enable FOH to purchase items for Huggins Elementary that are not covered in the school district budget such as teaching programs, technology equipment, and playground equipment.
