Bike For Mike a Great Success

Memorial Ride Was Fun for All

Riders of All Ages
With almost 400 riders signed up to ride, the 1st Annual “Bike for Mike” bike ride was a great hit with cyclists of all ages. The ride, which raised money for projects to beautify Fulshear, featured three primary routes and a 3-mile route for the kids.

Mom’s and Dad’s watched proudly as their kids took to the streets and showed their strength as future cyclists. It was clear that when their legs get longer and their muscles grow stronger, they’ll be riding with the pros.

The location for the events was the Bar-O Ranch, a working vinyard and home to the McCann family. Mike McCann, for whom the ride was named, was an avid cyclist and supporter of Fulshear. Carole McCann and their children were in attendance and graciously greeted the visitors.

Sponsors
Sponsors such as Trendmaker Homes, David Weekley Homes, Fulbrook, Fulshear Creek Crossing, and many others, provided a number of activities such as moonwalks by The Bounce House, Cookies by Papa J, Ice Cream Treats by “Sweet Tooth”, bike repairs by “Bike Barn”, Pizza by Pepperoni’s Pizza, Zydeco Music by Fred Rusk and the Zydeco High Steppers. The Fulshear-Simonton Lions Club pitched in and also managed the cyclists’ Pit Stop in Simonton. (Click Here for a complete list of the Sponsors). Please let us know if we left anyone out.

About the Event
The event was clearly a city-wide project and wouldn’t have happened without the involvement and support of the Fulshear Business commuity. Most of the businesses involved provided volunteers, advertising, and planning as well as direct financial support to make the event possible.

Special thanks go to all that helped – thanks to you, Mike McCann’s memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all that participated as well as future Fulshear Residents.

Girl Scouts Visit the Sweet Tooth Shoppe

Submitted by Becky Daves

Sister Girl Scout troops visit the Sweet Tooth Shoppe – Brownie Troop 3974 joined by Daisy Troop 29034 visited Sweet Tooth and learned about sales and marketing.  Owner, Karen O’Neil challenged the girls to design an advertisement for the shop.  Both troops will be bridging to the next Girl Scout level in May – the Brownies are moving up to Juniors, and the Daisies are growing to Brownies!
