Forever Fulshear and the City of Fulshear is proud to present their sixth semi-annual Keep Fulshear Beautiful event on Saturday, November 22nd. Volunteers will meet at Fulshear City Hall, 30603 FM 1093 at 9:00 a.m. and be divided into groups. Several groups will pick up debris along FM 1093, some will be in charge of removing trash along Flewellen Creek and the younger ones will help install a Community Vegetable Garden at City Hall. Several Girl Scout troops are scheduled to help with the planting and one troop has volunteered to maintain the garden.
The North Fort Bend Water Authority will have their Conservation Education truck at the Irene Stern Community Center, 6920 Katy Fulshear Road, from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. This mobile water conservation education resource is dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of this vital natural resource, to encourage today’s students to become tomorrow’s stewards, and to make us aware of why we must utilize the lessons of the past to help us use water more efficiently in the future. The displays in the Lab are not age specific, and include several potential water study topics. The most important concept, however, is that water is a finite resource and must be used as efficiently as possible to avoid wasting it!
The Fulshear Parks Commission will be previewing their first Pollinator Garden, also at the Irene Stern Center at noon. This is the Parks Commission’s first installment of a butterfly, hummingbird and pollinator garden. There are species-specific host plants and nectar plants in the garden with a water source, donated by Arts Fulshear and made by artist Ryan Steffens.
Bring any size battery for recycling! Drop off locations will be the Fulshear Farmers’ Market, 9035 Bois d’Arc Lane at FM 1093 and Fulshear City Hall.
A BBQ lunch will be served to the volunteers at the Irene Stern Center after the clean-up. Come on out, rain or shine, to enjoy the camaraderie and help to Keep Fulshear Beautiful!
The wonderful sponsors for this event are Brown & Gay Engineers, Bike Barn, the City of Fulshear, Enchanted Gardens, Fulbrook, Fulbrook on Fulshear Creek, Fulshear Run, Green Grove Group and Kroger.
