Promptly at 5:30 pm on Friday, November 27th, 2015, Don McCoy Executive Director of the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce, opened the City of Fulshear Tree Lighting ceremony.
Prior to introducing Mayor Tommy Kuykendall, Mr. McCoy reminded those in attendance of the Fulshear Festival of LIghts, which is scheduled for December 5th, 2015 from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm. He continued, acknowledging the assistance of Casi Newbill, owner of the Cobblestone Cottage, who, along with her team, provided the decorations for the city’s official Christmas Tree. He thanked Mark and Nicole Saenz, who decorated the downtown area by providing lighting for many of the buildings as well as 40 wreaths seen adorning the downtown area. Don also thanked George Lane, owner of Fulshear Tree Service for trimming the area trees and clearing the site of underbrush in preparation for the upcoming Festival of Lights. He then introduced Mayor Kuykendall.
Mayor Kuykendall thanked the Fulshear Development Corporation as well as Don McCoy, Randy Stacy and the Chamber of commerce board members for their work preparing for the night’s activities. Continuing, he described his hopes that the community would “make a lot of memories this Christmas season.” In attendance, were Fulshear City Council Members, Tricia Krenek and Ramona Ridge.
When the appointed time arrived, Mayor Kuykendall led the crowd as they counted down. With the countdown ended, young Justin Gustafson pulled the switches, which illuminated the tree that will symbolize the Christmas spirit in Fulshear throughout the 2015 holiday season.
With the tree lit, Mayor Kuykendall led the crowd in several traditional, Christmas songs: Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman. He then introduced Council Members Tricia Krenek and Ramona Ridge and reminded the crowd that Cross Creek Ranch had their own Christmas activities this same night.
The evening’s event ended with Don McCoy encouraging everyone to come to the Festival of Lights on December 5th, 2015, noting that the parade route would be reversed from previous years.
