On Wednesday, January 7th, 2015, the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce (FACC) held its first meeting of 2015. The meeting was held at Yong’s Asian Fusion Grill, which is located in Fulshear. At the meeting, the group recognized a true milestone by celebrating it’s first-year anniversary and growth that far-exceeded the leadership’s initial goals.
During the meeting, newly-elected State Senator Lois Kolkhorst arrived to celebrate the Chamber’s special moment. During her remarks, the Senator congratulated the Chamber for its success and even became its 190th member.
Senator Kolkhorst was in Fulshear to meet with Mayor Tommy Kuykendall to discuss matters of importance to the City of Fulshear. She was escorted by Fulshear Mayor Tommy Kuykendall and accompanied by City Administrator, CJ Snipes, and Economic Development Director, Cheryl Stalinsky.
Because the 84th session of the Texas Legislature is preparing to begin on January 13th, Senator Kolkhorst focused her remarks to the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce members on her plans for the upcoming session. She went on to discuss the major issues, which the Legislature will have to deal with in this session.
Following Senator Kolkhorst’s remarks, Mayor Tommy Kuykendall read a proclamaion declaring January 7th, 2015 to be “Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce Day” in Fulshear.
After addressing the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce membership, Senator Kolkhorst and Mayor Kuykendall continued their day with meetings with members of Fulshear city staff.
The Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce was established in January of 2014. FACC Board President Randy Stacy is proud to say that in only one year, its membership has grown to an astounding 190 Members, far surpassing its initial goal of 175 for the year. FACC Executive Director Don McCoy, is confident that by the end of 2015, Chamber Membership will reach their primary goal of 300. The goal of 300 members is intended to honor Stephen F. Austin’s “Old 300” that settled Texas, by which Churchill Fulshear Sr. received his original land grant.
