It was a beautiful day on September 22nd, 2014 when the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce took over the Weston Lakes golf course for their 1st Annual Stampede of Golf.
With specially created pin flags artistically designed by Arts Fulshear flying over the course and specialty holes around every bend, golfers and sponsors alike had an extremely enjoyable day.
The tournament started off with a bang, literally, as Fulshear Police Department Chief Kenny Seymour fired a shotgun in the air for a real shotgun start. As golfers made their way around the course in scramble style, they encountered numerous enjoyable obstacles and greetings.
At Hole 1, sponsored by Representative Dr. John Zerwas, several members of the Fulshear PD, including Belle, offered donuts and a smile.
Next up at Hole 2, the force was definitely with some of the golfers as they attempted to experience Hyper Drive with Collette Horton and her staff from Liberty Star Mortgage at their Star Wars hole.
Fogle Manufacturing sponsored a Closest to the Pin competition at Hole 3, where Nickey Braly won a $200 gift card to Ray’s for his excellent precision.
Around the way at Hole 6, golfers had an opportunity to visit with the Servpro crew and play a few games, have a snack and some fun.
All Terra Engineering brought some “official” business to the course with their sponsorship of the Official Hole at Hole 7, where some local government celebrities visited with golfers and sponsors for the day.
Hole 8 was full of fun as the Tri-County Business Associates sponsored the “gallery hole” where golfers were able to make a small donation to the Krause Center and receive a beautiful caricature of their gorgeous golfing selves, drawn by local artist Bob Doll. Golfers also had a chance at Hole 8 to win the Longest Drive competition. You will never guess who won that – yep, Nickey Braly!
Weston Lakes brought a little fiesta to the tournament with their sponsorship of Hole 12 and their delicious margaritas which left many of the golfers yelling Ole’ as they left.
The golfers had an exciting run for the next few holes, trying to hit that ace in the hole for a $10,000.00 vacation prize sponsored by Cruise Planners at Hole 13, and the $50,000.00 cash prize sponsored by Randle Law Firm at Hole 16.
Glitz, Glamour and Golf were served up at Hole 18, sponsored by Fulshear Magazine, where Nancy Jones was there taking photos of the teams.
Riding around the course with beverages to keep the golfers hydrated were sponsors from Independence Title , Dream Landscape and 1st Texas Home Health.
Volunteers, clad in red shirts sponsored by Todd Shipp of State Farm Insurance were out in full force, helping the tournament run smoothly.
Not only could the golfers win prizes along the course, but golfers, sponsors and volunteers all had the opportunity to win raffle prizes provided by lots of local businesses.
At the end of the day, as all of the attendees rode off into the sunset, you could hear their cries of Yee-haw throughout Fulshear! Kudos to the tournament chairperson, Karen Van Holten; Executive Director, Don McCoy, the FACC Board of Directors and to the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce membership for putting on such an incredible event!
